local parks and museums
We logged a lot of science hours this year with help from our local park, Shelby Farms Park. It is a beautiful place, we are so lucky to live near it. They have a great Saturday program for kids, and a week long course for Junior Master Gardeners. I highly recommend it! We also visited the Pink Palace, the Memphis Botanic Gardens, and the Mid America Science Museum in Hot Springs AR.

Getting started
this is our first year to homeschool. I was so overwhelmed at first, but great local resources, supportive family, and a mentor helped a lot. Plus finding Lee Giles' Easy Peasy Curriculum allinonehomeschool.com was very exciting to find. We did a lot of research, talked to our student a lot, and decided to use a mix of online and textbooks to suit his learning styles.
We chose Easy Peasy because of the easy layout and advanced English and foreign language course. You just click on the lessons for each day. We chose Saxon math because we could get a total math homeschool package that includes lesson plan, tests, activity sheets, quizzes, everything. We chose Abeka for Science, same reason as Saxon, all paperwork came together. For exercise, we will do things together like walking, bowling and tennis.
Before we got started I was telling a family member I was so excited about this new project I almost couldn't breathe and she thought I was crazy! It has been aweome, we are at out first 4 weeks and things are working out really well.
This blog will be my spot to vent, share, explore and continue the journey.
